Colleen Cambier is a Video Editor and Producer based in Boston, Massachusetts.

The main purpose of Colleen’s work is to educate. While studying Photojournalism at Rochester Institute of Technology, Colleen became involved with the National Institute for the Deaf (NTID), learning sign language and Deaf culture. She ultimately earned her minor in ASL and Deaf Studies. Learning about this community, Deaf pride, as well as, the opposition to cochlear implants, has been eye opening and Colleen continues to explore this world with her work.

After graduating in 2016, Colleen went on to complete her graduate degree at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, studying Photography and Filmmaking. She earned her Master of Science degree and graduated in 2018.

Currently, Colleen is working on her own documentary, The Rollercoaster, surrounding the debate over cochlear implants. The film follows the main character, Wesley, a 20 year old college student undergoing surgery for his second cochlear implant. Over the course of one year, Colleen focused on Wesley’s newfound hearing, his adjustment to having two implants that are four years apart, and understanding that this decision does not guaranteed for full restored hearing. The controversy over cochlear implants in the Deaf community will be discussed by supporting characters, from around the country, sharing their positive and negative experiences on their cochlear implant journey.

Colleen is a plant nerd at heart and loves to spend time with her rescue puppy, Miles.
